WILLIE CLAY CALL - “THE UNCATCHABLE”

Willie Clay Call was one of the most renowned moonshiners to come out of Wilkes County, NC - The Moonshine Capital of the World™.

Clay made moonshine and ran it out of necessity, necessity to survive and a conviction to be the best at it.  Being labeled by Federal ATF agents as The Uncatchable was a title that was earned by staying true to the art of moonshining and an undeterred drive to take care of family.

Wilkes County in the 1940's, 50's & 60's was the epicenter to the moonshine industry that was booming in North Carolina.

Willie Clay made a name for himself and for Wilkes County by hauling his famed moonshine all over NC.

This 1961 Chrysler New Yorker Golden Lion Edition was Clay's favorite for hauling shine. He was said to have hauled more white liquor in this beauty than any other car in his fleet.

He hauled 2, sometimes 3 loads a night to Charlotte & Winston-Salem in this car. Built from the factory with dual cross ram induction, Clay had the motor polished and balanced to pull all the power he could from the motor. Nothing on the road back in the 60's could come close to catching this car.
